Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has had his fair share of detractors throughout his career. With two full seasons of starting QB play now under his belt, Love is entering his third season as the leading man in Green Bay and has a lot of expectations to live up to. With exciting young talent, plenty of highlights promising high-level play, and an increasingly strong division to contend in, Love is going to make or break the Packers’ 2025-26 season. Despite plenty of negativity surrounding Love’s standing as a surefire quality QB, one ESPN analyst and former NFL QB definitively stated that anyone who thought Love had regressed last season is missing the big picture.
It’s not hard to find NFL fans and even football experts who would call Jordan Love “overrated” or “average,” but one former NFL signal-caller is resolute in his assessment of Green Bay’s QB1.
Anyone who says Jordan Love regressed last year doesn’t look at QB play properly.
Thanks. Have an awesome day.

It is true that statistically, Love did have a down year by his own standards. His passing yards per game decreased from 244.6 to 225.9. His touchdowns went down from 32 to 25 while still throwing 11 interceptions. His completion percentage dipped from 64.2% to 63.1%.
Despite this, Orlovsky pointed to the film itself when defending Love. The Green Bay quarterback certainly has some bad interceptions and missed reads on his tape, but overall, it’s hard not to be wowed by some of the electric throws and dazzling playmaking. Few other players in the league can match what Love can be when he is at his best. The challenge now is for him to consistently play to his highest level.
here’s 26 minutes of highlights from this season (via the NFL youtube channel) to help you calm down and realize jordan love is going to be just fine and any overreaction good or bad probably isn’t actually indicative of where he’s at as a QB even though I will continue to… pic.twitter.com/GiQCm9AF2F

In addition to film, Orlovsky had his own stats to back his claim.
5 QBs finished Top 10 in QBR in each of the last 2 seasons:
Patrick Mahomes
Lamar Jackson
Josh Allen
Jordan Love
Brock Purdy— Dan Orlovsky (@danorlovsky7) June 3, 2025
Fans responded to Orlovksy’s take with some of their own opinions, including some context around Love’s 2024-25 season in which some thought he “regressed.”
Jordan Love is the only QB that gets penalized for playing through an injury and having unreliable receivers that dropped the most passes on crucial downs

Even as far back as January 2024, when Love had just one full season of being the starting quarterback, Orlovsky felt he was already showing signs of being great.
Jordan Love’s tape is an absolute heater

Even in the summer of 2024, as Love was heading into his second year, Orlovsky confidently asserted that Love was the QB he wanted for the long-term even out of any other options in the NFC. Speaking with ESPN Madison, he said that outside of Brock Purdy, Love was the clear choice for the ideal QB1 of the conference heading into the next 6-8 years.

There’s evidence for those on both sides of the debate to validate their own positions, but the reality is, at 26-years-old, Love is no longer a “project” and is at the point of his career where results matter more than observable potential. He at the crux of if he can be the next great quarterback in the impeccable history of Packers signal-callers, or if he is just another talented player who does not have what it takes to elevate a team in the postseason.
