The Green Bay Packers has improved from a losing record (8-9) in Jordan Love’s first year as a quarterback but then managed to record winning ones in the next two.
Many regard this era of the team as a great regular season squad but then the main determinant of the success is in the playoffs.
They played two games in 2023 after finishing the regular season at 9-8 but in the next one, they were eliminated in the first round despite their better regular season record of 11-6.
Can fans expect a better finish this season? Love, who as a leader faces intense scrutiny, has a bold declaration.
“It’s definitely time. We’re primed to take that next step,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
“That’s the focus and the goal, that we talk about every day. I’m trying to get better. I’m not trying to run back losing in the first round of the playoffs. So, there’s a lot of things that we’re trying to improve on.”
The team made major moves this offseason. First is the drafting of two wide receivers, one in the first round.
Another is the signing of Aaron Banks and Isaiah Simmons while also releasing Jaire Alexander.
Other players like Zach Tom, Elgton Jenkins, and Tucker Kraft are also expected to make a leap.
Analysts say that Love is now surrounded with capable players that can elevate his game.
The 26-year-old made it to this year’s list of Top 100 NFL Players for 2025 by the NFL and although his ranking dropped from 34 the year before to no. 68 this year, the people around him has faith on what he can do with the ball.
“I believe Jordan is the guy that’s gonna take us to a Super Bowl. That’s it,” Kraft said.
The people who working closely with him is excited about his third year as main QB compared to those who did the ranking.
Gutekunst on Jordan Love: “Really excited for what he’s gonna do for our football team this year.”
