A lot is riding on the shoulders of Green Bay Packers star quarterback Jordan Love . As someone who’s succeeded Aaron Rodgers under center, the shoes Love needs to fill are always going to be big. At the same time, the Packers believe that they have someone capable of taking them to the top of the NFL, and the upcoming 2025 NFL season will be another chance for the signal-caller to prove himself.
Although he regressed a bit in the 2024 NFL season, Love had his moments–several of them. And for Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, there’s one of the 425 passes thrown by Love in the 2024 regular season that he, well, loved the most.
”Definitely at Detroit,” LaFleur said when asked by Kevin Clark of ESPN about his favorite Jordan Love throw last season (h/t Zach Kruse of Packers Wire ). “They brought a pressure up the middle, we didn’t pick it up. He was able to — I don’t know how — he was able to evade the defender. Reset his feet, flip his hips, and his Christian Watson over the middle on a high cross.”
This is what every DC dreams of: an unblocked pressure up the gut. Instead, Love pulls an insane escape act and hits Watson for a 29 yard gain. pic.twitter.com/nz7yTANNL4

Love’s execution in that throw was simply golden and deserves to be viewed over and over again. No wonder it made such an impression on LaFleur, who is entering his seventh season as Green Bay’s head coach.
Although the Packers lost that Week 8 game in Detroit via a score of 34-31, Love and Watson showed great connection, as perfectly summed up by that pass completion. Love had 206 passing yards with a touchdown (to tight end Tucker Kraft) on 12-of-20 passing. Watson recorded 114 receiving yards on just four catches and seven targets.
During the 2024 season, Love threw for 3,389 passing yards and 25 touchdowns with 11 interceptions while completing 63.1 percent of his passes.
