Growing hype at Eagles camp is setting up veteran's breakout 2025 season

There is absolutely an argument to be made that Josh Sweat and Milton Williams deserved to be named co-MVPs of Super Bowl LIX, which would have marked the first time that happened since Randy White and Harvey Martin of the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XII.

Alas, the honor of course went to Jalen Hurts, who was more than deserving in his own right for his part in the Philadelphia Eagles demolition job of the Kansas City Chiefs. Fast forward to the offseason and Sweat and Williams are Eagles no more.

The losses of both gave detractors enough ammo to doubt the defending champions in 2025, yet the Eagles are ready to show just how deep their cupboard is stocked. Jalyx Hunt, who was in on a sack in the Super Bowl by the way, is set to replace Sweat, which while a tall task, he has looked ready to take on.

Then there's the case of Williams replacement.

Willams will always be loved by Eagles fans, and we're happy to see him get his bag of lettuce this offseason. Having said that, he was a rotational piece to the defense, and the loss of him, and Sweat for that matter, was a bit overblown, as previously stated by a certain writer on this site.

The big reason for that is, the Eagles are confident in the interior replacement.

How Moro Ojomo could dramatically impact the Eagles in 2025

Moro Ojomo was set to do battle with Thomas Booker IV for the honor of replacing Williams in the lineup. Both can play, and have shown flashes. Ojomo has since flashed brilliance this summer, to the point he has future Hall of Fame offensive linemen (well one lock anyway) singing his praises, and not just a teammate.

That is pretty much as high praise as one can get. Lane Johnson has his gold jacket already being stitched since he's making his case for the greatest right tackle of all-time, and Bitonio, very well could join him in Canton as a seven-time Pro Bowler, a first-team All Pro selection twice, and a second-team selection thrice. So yeah, get excited.

The Eagles share this sentiment as well, as evident by the fact that they felt comfortable trading the aforementioned Booker to the Las Vegas Raiders for cornerback Jakorian Bennett.

Ojomo quietly had a productive playoff run as well. He sacked Matthew Stafford in the snowy divisional round winter wonderland win over the Los Angeles Rams, and a tackle for loss in the Super Bowl.

Make no mistake about it, the Moro Ojomo breakout season appears to be here for the Philadelphia Eagles, and the defense looks like it may be ready to fly once more, especially in the trenches.
