The Kansas City Chiefs invested heavily in their defense in the 2026 NFL Draft.
They clearly feel that they have most of the pieces they need on offense, especially after signing star RB Kenneth Walker III.
With that in mind, Travis Kelce shared his honest assessment of his team's draft performance. In the latest edition of his "New Heights" podcast, the future Hall of Famer tipped his hat to general manager Brett Veach.
“I’m pumped on just seeing these young guys get in the building,” Kelce said, adding that the team did a solid job of filling their roster needs in the draft.
The Chiefs didn't get many new weapons for Patrick Mahomes. However, Kelce believes that Cyrus Allen, a fellow Cincinnati alumnus, could be a difference-maker despite being a fifth-round selection:
“Cyrus Allen, he’s a route-runner, man, he’s a route-runner,” Kelce said. “When we were talking about what I want to see out of a guy in the wide receiver room, he has his own twists on a lot of routes, and he has the quickness, he has the decisiveness. He really knows how to use his shoulders, quickness and rhythm to get DBs in a bind.”
As things stand now, the Chiefs will roll with Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Tyquan Thornton as the starting wide receivers.
They could also try to bring back Tyreek Hill in free agency, but even if that happens, there could still be a role for the rookie wideout.
As a fellow Bearcat himself, it makes sense that Kelce has words of encouragement and is excited about Allen's NFL journey. Now, it's up to him to prove him right and show that this endorsement comes from much more than just sharing schools.
