The game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans should be a battle of the defenses. That doesn’t mean that Aaron Rodgers and C.J. Stroud won’t be trying to move the chains, though. DFS players don’t need to avoid this game, but rather be careful who they pick up because the defenses on either team play extremely well. There may be some star players that get held to little to no production just based on the matchup.

For Houston to be successful, they need to target Collins early and often. Collins tends to have great games when he is targeted often, like against Jacksonville, where 15 targets led to 131 yards. C.J. Stroud may not have much time to throw with T.J. Watt breathing down his neck. It’s likely that Stroud will only have time to fling the ball to Collins or check down to a runningback or tight end. Collins should be getting ten or more targets in this game, and with that much work, he can easily get north of 100 yards and a possible touchdown or two.

The Steelers have a particularly tough match-up against the Texans defense because it’s not just their pass rush they have to fear; the Texans secondary is quite threatening as well. Cornerbacks Karami Lassiter and Derek Stingley Jr., in particular, are players Pittsburgh would want to avoid. One great way to do that is to feed the tight end. Patrick Freiermuth would be more than happy to oblige, coming off a 51-yard game with only three receptions. Rodgers may target him on third downs where they need to convert and the other receivers are covered.

Another way to take the cornerbacks out of the game is to run the football. Warren doesn’t go for 80 yards in every game, but he can easily go over 100 yards when his number gets called. Given the age of Aaron Rodgers, the Steelers could afford to play a little less aggressively. Pounding the ball with Warren might be exactly what the doctor ordered in this situation.

Although he should be praised for the season he is having, C.J. Stroud is not exactly going into Monday with the wind at his back. His offensive line has turned for the worse this offseason, yet Stroud continues to improve. The problem is that facing the Steelers without strong protection is a recipe for disaster. Even if the Texans win, it could be on the back of a 6-point no-touchdown game.

There is only one reason why Adam Theilen isn’t a good look here, and that’s because of the return of DK Metcalf. That gives the Steelers two solidified receivers, and they love to send Freiermuth as a receiver, which fills another slot. That means Thielen won’t even hit the field unless there is a four-man or five-man formation. It’s quite likely that Theilin is still a talented pass chaser, but he likely won’t be used enough in this game to be fantasy relevant.

If Thielen has trouble getting targets, then there is almost no way Austin III will be getting the ball. Austin III usually plays behind Metcalf and Valdez-Scantling. Therefore, he only hits the field on empty sets or four receiver sets. Austin III did have a good game against Baltimore, but he has never gotten more than 70 yards at any point this season. Rodgers also likes to spread the ball a lot, so Austin III is not guaranteed any volume.
