'I really believe in him' - Russell Wilson sends message about Giants weapon people are writing off but he's trying to unleash

Russell Wilson is no stranger to hyping up his teammates. During his days with the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, and Pittsburgh Steelers, he never shied away from doing to the point people made jokes and memes about it.

But Wilson appears particularly excited about one weapon on the team many fans and media members have written off: Wide receiver Jalin Hyatt.

"Jalin Hyatt is a guy who I really believe in," Wilson told reporters on Thursday following the Giants' sixth OTAs practice.

Wilson was discussing multiple teammates during his comment but he specifically expressed his belief on the young WR.

Wilson and Hyatt have co-starred in multiple viral practice clips this offseason, with one deep ball standing out more than others and getting Giants fans excited about the pairing. Wilson described his receiver as a player with "untapped potential."

Multiple reporters have noted Wilson's praise for Hyatt over the offseason as something that has stood out over other comments from the quarterback about his teammates. Beyond his words, his actions also speak loudly about his expectations for the receiver.

According to Giants assistant GM Brandon Brown, Wilson invited Hyatt to a private workout in Los Angeles.

Hyatt's career with the Giants is off to a disappointing start as he barely got playing time as a sophomore, logging eight catches for 62 yards after a 373-yard rookie season. With Wilson at quarterback, Hyatt could be in a better spot to show off his top-end speed.

Though he is far from his former elite self, Wilson is a quarterback that isn't afraid to push the ball downfield, which could allow Hyatt to thrive in 2025. At the very least, he could carve himself a more consistent role on offense.

"Jalin, I'm really excited about him and what he's done so far," Wilson added.
