We wish him the best.

Following Sunday's scary preseason injury to Dolphins running back Alexander Mattison, an official prognosis is reportedly in.

Mattison, who joined Miami back in March after five years with the Vikings and a one-season stint in Las Vegas, injured his neck in yesterday's exhibition vs. the Bears and had to be taken by ambulance to a local Chicago hospital.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the 27-year-old RB underwent season-ending surgery during his stay in the Windy City and will not be able to suit up for the Dolphins' already thin backfield in 2025.

Fans reacted to the unfortunate news on X.

"Damnit, this one sucks. Dude was having a killer camp. Now his future becomes a big question mark ..." Mike Prater replied.

"This breaks my heart!" Minnesota sports writer Lindsey Young exclaimed. "Apart from football, just praying Alex will be OK. One of my favorite players to have worked with and an incredible family. Forever a Viking."

"That is very concerning if he already had surgery," a doctor said. "Alexander Mattison potentially had spinal cord compression that had to be addressed immediately. Prayers up for him "

"Awful," a user posted. "He walked off the field and gave fan a thumbs up when he got to the tunnel. A testament to how tough he is. Hoping for the best for Mattison."

"Hate to see things like this happen to my brother's," Nick Ferguson commented. "Praying Mattison makes a full recovery from his surgery. "

"Season ending neck surgery jesus christ man what a terrifying sentence."

"That's brutal. I was looking for add to seeing him play. Get well soon Alexander," a fan shared.

Mattison was a third-round pick out of Minnesota back in 2019. In six NFL seasons, he's appeared in 89 games with 26 starts where he gained 2,790 yards and 15 touchdowns primarily behind four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook.

We certainly wish him a full and speedy recovery as he works his way back, as he's been one of the more underrated runners in the league for some time now.
