It’s no secret that head coach Matt LaFleur, quarterback Jordan Love, and the Packers’ offense thrives on explosiveness.
Big plays have become a lifeblood for Green Bay during LaFleur’s tenure, and the commitment to producing them is what led the Packers to spend big in free agency last offseason to sign former rushing champion Josh Jacobs and invest a first-round draft choice in speedy wide receiver Matthew Golden.
Whether it is explosive runs from Jacobs, who has 11 of more than 10 yards so far this season, or a big play downfield to a receiver such as first-round rookie Matthew Golden, who is averaging 15.1 yards per reception, the Packers’ offense is seemingly built on big plays.
Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cardinals, Green Bay’s quick-strike ability and explosive plays capable of creating back-breaking moments for a defense could hold the key to winning Sunday’s game.
“The Packers are becoming one of the league’s most explosive and consistent operations this year (outside of one very poor showing in Cleveland),” Ali Bhanpuri writes for NFL Media. “Jordan Love & Co. have scored 27-plus points in four of their five games, rank eighth in yards per play and lead the league in third-down conversion percentage.”
With Jacobs pounding through defenses and Golden stretching the field, Green Bay’s offense feels like it’s only scratching the surface of what it can become … and that’s a frightening thought for the rest of the NFC.
Sunday against the Cardinals, that explosiveness may prove to be the Packers’ biggest key.
