Mike Garafolo explained Tuesday why a previously unidentified person on the Seattle Seahawks' sideline wasn't punished during his scuffle with Philadelphia Eagles wideout A.J. Brown on "Monday Night Football."
The NFL Network insider also revealed that Brown's counterpart wasn't a member of Seattle's coaching staff (as some assumed) but was a player from the team's practice squad. Garafolo said that because it was a player who was involved, they weren't ejected, as Eagles chief security officer Dom DiSandro was in Week 13.
From The Insiders on #NFLPlus and @nflnetwork: If you were wondering why a non-player on the #Seahawks’ sideline didn’t get the Dom DiSandro treatment for getting into it with the #Eagles’ A.J. Brown, it’s in part because he actually is a player — practice-squad OL Joey Hunt. pic.twitter.com/FRrcUpCLBO

Joey Hunt was selected by the Seahawks in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. While he spent time with the Indianapolis Colts in 2020 and 2021, all but one of his 40 career games (including five playoff contests) have come with Seattle.
Hunt set career highs in games played (14) and starts (eight) during the 2019 campaign with the Seahawks but hasn't played outside of the preseason since his one regular season contest with the Colts in December 2020.
DiSandro made headlines in early December when he and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw were involved in a sideline altercation during the third quarter of the Eagles-Niners Week 13 contest. Greenlaw took a swipe at DiSandro's face, and "Big Dom" responded by pointing a finger and chirping at the player. Both Greenlaw and DiSandro were ejected following the incident.
The head of security was banned from standing on the sidelines during Philadelphia's Week 14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, and subsequently for the remainder of the regular season.
