The NFL trade deadline looms on November 4, and according to Eric D. Williams of Fox Sports, multiple teams are expected to be aggressive—including the Los Angeles Rams. Williams noted that the Jaguars, 49ers, Rams, Bills, Seahawks, Patriots, and Eagles are all likely to be active, pointing out that organizations like the Rams and 49ers have a history of swinging big at this stage of the season. Crucially, those teams also have the salary cap flexibility to make something happen.

Cornerback Play Still an Issue

If the Rams needed more evidence that the cornerback spot could be a deadline priority, they got it in Week 5. San Francisco wideout Kendrick Bourne torched the Los Angeles secondary for 10 catches and 142 yards. Nate Atkins of the Athletic reported that head coach Sean McVay even hinted postgame that bolstering the cornerback room might be on the table, noting he “didn’t want to get too into it without watching the tape back” but avoided praising the group’s performance.

The situation has only become more pressing with Ahkello Witherspoon sidelined. That has left veterans like Darious Williams and youngsters such as Cobie Durant and Emmanuel Forbes with heavy workloads. Opponents are completing 66.4% of passes against the Rams—11th-worst in the league.

L’Jarius Sneed Linked to Los Angeles Rams Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline

This Puka-Flex T-Shirt Is Illegal In Philly

One name that continues to surface is Tennessee Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. Sports Illustrated’s Matt Verderame and Gilberto Manzano floated the idea of the Rams offering a conditional third-round pick for the 28-year-old, who remains under contract after signing a four-year, $76.4 million extension following his trade from Kansas City.

“The Rams might be a cornerback away from becoming real threats to the Eagles and Lions in the NFC,” Manzano and Verderame wrote. They added that while Sneed hasn’t replicated his early-career highs, Los Angeles’ defensive infrastructure could help him rediscover his form.

Why Sneed Fits

Sneed has built a reputation as a physical, versatile defender, with 10 interceptions, 6.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles in his career. Though injuries hampered his 2024 season, he’s still limiting opponents to under 60% completions against him in 2025. Acquiring him would not only stabilize the coverage but also allow Chris Shula to dial up more creative blitz packages without exposing weak spots.

Other Possibilities

While cornerback is the most obvious need, general manager Les Snead has never been shy about exploring other options. Depth along the offensive line or an additional edge rusher could also be in play. But given recent struggles in the secondary, Sneed—or another experienced corner—remains the most logical target.

With the deadline less than a month away, the Rams are in a familiar spot: talented enough to contend but one calculated move away from shoring up a glaring hole. If history is any guide, Los Angeles will be in the mix when the phones heat up in early November.
