Insider shares prediction about Tom Brady replacing Fox's Greg Olsen

Well-respected NFL insider Peter King of NBC Sports is among those within the football community convinced that retired quarterback Tom Brady will be a hit replacing Greg Olsen as Fox's No. 1 game analyst this coming season. 

In Monday's edition of his "Football Morning in America" column, King explained why he thinks Brady is "going to be very good in the Fox booth" starting in September. 

"Quietly, Brady’s been working over the last five months, getting used to doing games in the booth, and learning from people he admires in TV," King said. "Remember one thing about Tom Brady: He was handed nothing in the NFL. Everything he got he earned. And he knew when he signed this ridiculous contract he’d have every eye in football on him when the job began in September 2024." 

The New England Patriots famously grabbed Brady with pick No. 199 of the 2000 NFL Draft. The seven-time Super Bowl champion signed a 10-year deal reportedly worth $375M with Fox after the 2021 season. 

The 46-year-old spent portions of this past campaign studying broadcasts and receiving pointers from broadcasters. He's already practiced calling games with lead play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt. 

As recently as last week, it was believed Brady's relationship with Fox won't prevent him from becoming a limited partner with the Las Vegas Raiders as soon as late March. 

"Do you think he hasn’t knocked himself out to be sure he knows the rhythm and the cadence and the information patterns of doing color? Now that doesn’t guarantee he’ll be good," King added about Brady. "I just think he’s smart, and he knows what it’ll take to be good, and when he has to call out a friend in the game, he’ll find a way to do it."

For a piece published on Jan. 29, Richard Deitsch of The Athletic suggested that "Brady’s significant interests away from broadcasting" could make it "unlikely he will come close to completing his 10-year broadcasting/ambassador deal with Fox." 

Whether or not Brady will prove Deitsch right by the end of next February remains to be seen, but there's currently no sign that TB12 is having second thoughts about starting his new career later this year.
