With the 2025 schedule now out, we can do that pointless thing that we do every single year with every single team, but specifically the Jacksonville Jaguars. This time of year, we all look at the schedule and predict the record they will have and which games they will win.
And, while I'm most definitely guilty of doing it, it doesn't make much sense, because no one is ever 100% right, and we don't take into account injuries that happen, or anything else like that. We simply look at rosters, coaching staffs, and whether a team is home or away, and decide which team will win based on a combination of those things in this little grading system we create inside our head.
However, one thing that is healthy to do when the schedules come out is to look at the positives of the schedule. If you ask me, the Jaguars have a pretty good schedule. When you look at the teams they play, and when they play them, it's not a bad schedule, and the release video wasn't too bad either.
In fact, there is something on the Jaguars' schedule that I'm willing to bet every team in the NFL wishes they had, if they didn't already.
Starting with Week 5, the Jaguars have a very good four-week stretch that should make some other teams a bit jealous. Yes, they play some pretty good teams in Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs and Week 7 against the Los Angeles Rams, but that's not the point we are trying to make.
At least those games are home games. From Week 5 to Week 7, the Jaguars are at home, including Week 7 being the London game, which the Jaguars are very familiar with by now, after playing two games there the last two years each. And, if you're going to play those good teams, why not do it at home during a home stretch at the beginning of the season when your team should still be somewhat healthy?
And then, just to put the cherry on top, they have a bye week after Week 7. Having the Week 8 bye week is one of the best bye weeks you could have, because it's split right down the middle of the season. After playing two great teams and a team that could be good in the Seattle Seahawks will need a bye week. And the bye week comes after a trip to London.
I can see this team being anywhere from 3-4 to 4-3 by the time they hit their bye week, and that's not bad. Think about it -- this team won four games last year. Getting to the postseason will take some time. And, that prediction -- four or three wins by the bye week -- comes with me predicting that the Houston Texans, a divisional opponent, will beat the Jaguars, and we all know that game could go either way.
Then there is the San Francisco 49ers before Week 5, who were very bad last season. We're not really sure what they will be in 2025 either. No matter what, though, this schedule is sure to give us a fun season, at least much more fun than last season.
