Jadarian Price Fantasy Football Takeaway From Week 1

The New England Patriots versus Seattle Seahawks game was filled with injuries, but there’s still plenty to analyze from the game. One player who was a major disappointment for fantasy football was Jadarian Price.

Now, heading into this game, the expectations for Price ended up being fairly reasonable by the end of the offseason, with a consensus ADP of 56.3 as the RB23. However, that would indicate that Price is a viable starting RB2, but I don’t see him as such going forward.

Below, we’ll take a look at the snap count from the Seahawks backfield and what you should do with Price going forward.

Jadarian Price Week 1 Snap Count Takeaways

According to this graph from Nathan Jahnke on PFF, Price would barely lead the Seahawks backfield in snaps with 24, while George Holani was just behind him with 23. As you would expect, based on that information, Price only had 10 rushing attempts compared to Holani’s eight, although Price was the far more efficient back.

Price was great in that limited role with 5.2 YPC while Holani was down at 3.6. That said, it’s not even as if it was just those two running backs, with Brady Russell taking 17 snaps as well. Russell would never carry the ball, but he had two targets and two catches for 20 receiving yards. For reference, Price had two targets and two receptions for six receiving yards.

Now Should Be the Time for Jadarian Price To Produce

You can make the argument that Price being a rookie will heat up later on, but now is the time for him to produce. Regardless, Price only scoring 7.8 fantasy points is not nearly a strong enough floor to start each week.

Zach Charbonnet is much more talented than any running back in this room, and he’s out right now due to an ACL injury. However, Zachary Krueger wrote this for NBC Sports:

“The timing of his injury, coupled with the surgery, led many to believe Charbonnet would miss a significant portion of the season, but this talk of an ‘aggressive’ timetable suggests he could be back far earlier than expected.”

Everyone watched this game, and you’re not going to be able to get a fair value for Price right now. If you can trade him and land another RB2, that would be optimal.

That said, Jadarian Price fantasy football managers should start looking for another RB2 to start in Week 2.
