Travis Hunter made NFL history in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 34-31 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday, recording a receiving touchdown and an interception in the same game. The second-year cornerback and wide receiver became the first player since 2002 to accomplish the feat, according to reports following Jacksonville’s Week 6 matchup at Wembley Stadium in London.
Hunter delivered on both sides of the ball during Jacksonville’s fourth-quarter comeback attempt. He caught four passes for 59 yards, including a seven-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Trevor Lawrence, before intercepting Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud in the end zone later in the quarter.
The Jaguars highlighted Hunter’s performance in a post on their official X account, praising the two-way player with the caption, “Look at Two-Way Trav man, so inspirational.” The post also tagged Gatorade and included the team’s #DUUUVAL hashtag.

The achievement came during a game that saw Jacksonville fight back from a late deficit. Hunter’s touchdown cut Houston’s lead to 31-28, and his interception stopped a Texans scoring opportunity on the next possession. Jacksonville subsequently tied the game at 31-31 on a 60-yard field goal from kicker Cam Little with 1:55 remaining.
Houston ultimately secured the victory when kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn converted a 49-yard field goal as time expired. The result ended Jacksonville’s three-game winning streak and improved the Texans’ record to 2-4, while the Jaguars fell to 4-2 but remained atop the AFC South.
Hunter’s performance also highlighted the value of his versatility. Jacksonville selected him with the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the team has continued developing his role as both a defensive back and an offensive weapon. His ability to contribute at cornerback while providing another receiving option gives the Jaguars flexibility on both sides of the ball.
Through six games this season, Hunter has recorded 22 total tackles, six passes defended and two interceptions on defense. His production against Houston added a receiving touchdown to his contributions, providing a clear example of the impact Jacksonville envisioned when it drafted him.
The Jaguars will look to respond in Week 7 after losing a close divisional matchup. Hunter’s two-way performance gives the team a notable individual achievement to build on, even though it could not prevent Houston from securing the victory.
