Jahmyr Gibbs revealed shocking truth about Lions' trick play on MNF

When the Detroit Lions marched down the field for one of their 95-plus yard touchdown drives on Monday Night Football, it ended in spectacular fashion with a good, old-fashioned trick play.

The Lions' scoring play started from the Baltimore 4-yard line, with a hand-off to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. The wide receiver quickly flipped it back to running back Jahmyr Gibbs who would waltz into the end zone for a score. From there, the Lions were up by a touchdown on Baltimore and would go on to, of course, win this one in what could have been a Super Bowl preview.

After the game, that trickery was one of the hotter topics from reporters. When asked about that play, Gibbs told the media that it was something that had been in their playbook for a whopping three years.

This was the first time the Lions ran the play.

It's early, but Jared Goff and the Lions offense is doing just fine without Ben Johnson

After a Week 1 scare against the Green Bay Packers, it seemed as though the entire football world was trying not to panic about these Lions who had lost so many notable coaches over the offseason. Of course, the hot name and low-hanging fruit was former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson who went to coach the rival Chicago Bears.

Putting up just six points against the Packers was reason enough to wonder just how much this team would end up missing Johnson.

Yet, over the past couple of games, Detroit has put that question to rest. In hilarious fashion, the Lions offense came back to life against Johnson and his Bears in Week 2 when they scored 52 points.

Then, this unit proceeded to put up 38 on the Ravens who, at least going into this season, thought they had a pretty good defense led by Kyle Hamilton, Marlon Humphrey and Roquan Smith.

The trick play on Monday night just further cemented the idea that this offense will be perfectly fine without Johnson. Not to take anything away from the coach, but Detroit has too much talent not to succeed on that side of the ball.

We've got to give credit where it's due, and having the likes of Gibbs, St. Brown, Jared Goff, David Montgomery, Sam LaPorta and an offensive line that is coming together is more than enough to keep the faith in Detroit's offense.
