The Las Vegas Raiders did not want to trade wide receiver Jakobi Meyers due to his importance to their offense, and he proved exactly why on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
In the Raiders’ 20-13 victory over the Patriots, Meyers recorded a team-high eight catches for 97 yards. While the Raiders did generally spread the wealth (tight end Brock Bowers paced the team with 103 yards), Meyers continued to find ways to get involved offensively. Despite all the drama that has come out over the past couple of weeks, the veteran wide receiver deserves props for staying focused on the season ahead.
In the process, Meyers managed to continue working his way up some leaderboards.
Throughout the game, Meyers crossed milestones related to some of the best undrafted players in NFL history, and the Raiders’ PR team highlighted those moments.
Meyers also passes Adam Thielen (397) for the ninth most receptions in NFL history among undrafted players in their first seven NFL seasons. https://t.co/dQkY42NGEE

Continuing to defy the odds, Meyers has put himself in position to receive a massive payday in March.
Meyers has continued to prove himself, albeit primarily on bad teams. Perhaps that is why the Raiders are waiting on getting a deal done, as they want to see how the veteran functions on what was expected to be an improved offense. Should Meyers continue to impress, the Raiders would be more than happy to reopen contract talks, as well as be more willing to give the wide receiver the money he is looking for.
Sunday was an excellent start for Meyers and his ambitions, both as an individual and team player.
