Taylor Swift's football knowledge was next to nothing when she and Travis Kelce began talking. And Jason Kelce was even a topic of conversation on their first date, which is how Swift got her first football lesson from the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
“Jason, on our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl and he looked across the field, across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing five feet in front of him on the field," Swift recalled during her appearance on New Heights on Aug. 17. "And he didn’t even look at me. Like I now know what an insane question that was. He was like, ‘Actually, I’m on the offense and my brother’s on the offense, and I’m only on the field at the same time as the defense.’
This was completely new information for Swift, who always had a very different idea of what happened during a football game.
"I thought everyone was on the field at the same time," she added. "I thought that the quarterbacks… I thought like Jared Goff is here and Josh Allen is here and they blow a whistle and then go at each other and it’s like who is going to win.”
However, two years later, Swift is now a football savant, having attended numerous Chiefs games to cheer on Travis Kelce. She even recalled following the 2024 NFL Draft when Kansas City selected wide receiver Xavier Worthy.
"I am forever grateful for you diving into the football world, wholeheartedly," Kelce said.
"I fell in love with it," Swift responded. "I became obsessed with it, I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We just drafted Xavier Worthy,' and my friends were like what is...who body snatched you? What do you mean we drafted Xavier Worthy?"
"I forget where I was, but you were the first person to tell me we drafted the fastest man in the draft," Kelce chimed in.
"I was screeching," Swift added. "I couldn't believe it. I was freaking out."
"I was like, 'Wait is she right? I'm going to have to look this up. Did she get the wrong information here?'" Kelce stated. "But yeah, [she was right] we traded up."
Next thing we know, she'll be gunning for Andy Reid's job!
