Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop icon Taylor Swift are finally engaged. The couple will no doubt spend months, if not years, planning their wedding. Among the first questions being asked is who will serve as Kelce's best man.

Just about everyone assumes that the best man will be his older brother Jason Kelce. Between their shared podcast and the support they've given each other throughout their respective careers, it seems obvious that Jason would be Travis' best man.

Obvious to everyone but Jason Kelce, that is.

Appearing on the Bussin' With the Boys podcast this week, Jason was asked if he will be the best man at the wedding. To everyone's surprise, he said that he's "hoping" for the opportunity but acknowledged that his brother has lots of friends and might give the honor to one of them instead.

"First of all, hopefully I'm the best man," Jason said. "We'll see. Travis has a lot of friends. I'm just hoping to get the opportunity."

It's been several seasons since Jason Kelce retired from the NFL and his excess of free time now that he no longer plays for the Eagles has allowed him to attend as many Chiefs games as he wants, giving him a front row seat to share with Swift at any games she attends to see Travis.

It would be far more surprising if he WASN'T the best man at the wedding.

The Swift-Kelce relationship

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s romance sparked in July 2023, when the Chiefs tight end tried (and failed) to give her a friendship bracelet at an Eras Tour stop—then talked about it on his podcast, which eventually led them to connect. Swift soon became a fixture at Chiefs games and famously joined Kelce on the field after Kansas City’s overtime win in Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024; a few months later, Kelce made a playful on-stage cameo during Swift’s London show at Wembley.

On August 26, 2025, they announced their engagement, and reporting since has emphasized they’re savoring the moment rather than rushing into wedding planning. Through busy NFL seasons and a globe-spanning tour, they’ve consistently shown up for each other, turning a private connection into a very public—and mutually supportive—partnership.
