Jason McCourty, Devin McCourty criticize NFL for being unprepared for season

The NFL is facing a variety of hurdles as the league prepares for the upcoming season and players are beginning to speak out for the lack of planning for keeping players safe in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jason McCourty and Devin McCourty are the latest to question the NFL, as they co-wrote a guest column for Sports Illustrated's "The MMQB" questioning the league.

"So many questions with virtually no answers, all three weeks removed from a potential start to training camp," the McCourtys wrote.

While the NBA and other leagues have gone out of their way to present plans to players in order to give them time to make an informed decision about participating in the season, the NFL has not been open or transparent about how the league plans to keep the season afloat. And the few things the NFL has announced have received push back from players, including the league's plan to reduce the preseason to two games rather than cancel the preseason altogether.

"Will we have an option to opt out of the season? Will we be making our full salary? What if there is a COVID outbreak within the league?" the McCourtys said. "It's so hard to make a decision of whether we will play or not without knowing what the exact plan is."

The McCourtys are hardly the only players who are unsure of the NFL's larger vision, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers recently expressed doubts about whether there will actually be a season under the current circumstances.
