Jayden Daniels is a game-changer. Washington Commanders fans got another fine example of that fact during the dynamic quarterback's long-awaited return to the lineup in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The signal-caller shook off some early rust to put together another accomplished display. Daniels led the Commanders to 27 unanswered points to ensure his California homecoming went according to plan. And the No. 2 pick in 2024 shut down all his pre-game doubters with one subtle swipe immediately after the contest.

Daniels had missed the last two games with a knee sprain. The Commanders were cautious, and he was forced to wear a brace. That led many to wonder if the dual-threat force could play without limitations, something that made the Chargers favored with sportsbooks heading into the clash.

Jayden Daniels heard the doubts before his triumphant Commanders return

It didn't take long to realize that the knee brace wouldn't impact Daniels' performance levels. He was electrifying, making big plays with his arm and legs. His pre-snap command was right on point, and he got the Commanders over the line with minimal fuss.

Daniels had heard all the chatter. But in the end, he let his football do the talking.

It means a lot. First game back to be in my hometown. You can't write a better story. I dreamt of moments like this. You all tell me. How did the knee look?Jayden Daniels via ESPN

He's not a big fan of speaking to the media. Daniels has been more irritated than ever over the last two weeks, and he took his frustrations out on the Chargers with an emphatic performance. Everything is looking up for the Commanders again. Simply put, the presence of their franchise player gave everyone the lift needed at a crucial time.

If Daniels can stay healthy the rest of the way, the Commanders will be a match for almost anybody. The fear factor is back. Other influential figures are also in the process of making their returns. That will serve head coach Dan Quinn's squad well, as their brutal stretch of games is already underway.

Daniels makes everything tick. He's highly competitive and a master at his craft. Although his firm focus is on football and not much else, he's also aware of the comments made about him this season. And it was probably a satisfying feeling to shut everyone up at the first time of asking.

Several turning points marked the Commanders' miraculous run to the NFC Championship game last season. Daniels' return could be another one.
