New York Jets running back Breece Hall raised eyebrows when he shared a cryptic Instagram post that included the caption "#Free20" after he saw zero targets as a receiver in the club's 13-11 Week 6 loss to the Denver Broncos.
While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Hall addressed whether or not that social-media activity showed that he wants to find a new NFL home before the Nov. 4 trade deadline arrives.
"It’s just a way for me to say I'm ready for whatever comes my way at the end of the day," Hall said about the Instagram post, per Al Iannazzone of Newsday. "Whether it's going against an opponent, whether it's in my life, it's just for me. It's a football thing. So all right, I'm ready for whatever opponent's coming my way, whatever the case may be. It's a for-the-game type of thing."
Hall previously insisted he wants to remain with the only NFL home he's known since the Jets selected him in the second round of the 2022 draft. That said, he's in the final year of his contract and currently features for a 0-6 team that seemingly will be looking for a significant upgrade at quarterback in 2026. Thus, it's safe to say the Jets aren't one offseason away from competing for more than a wild-card playoff berth, at best.
A Wednesday report indicated that the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers and New England Patriots are among the advertised contenders that could call the Jets about Hall's availability before Nov. 4. He later touched upon how he's handling rumors about his uncertain future this fall.
"So you think that when I'm playing, I'm thinking about getting traded? You think I wake up thinking about getting traded? I have a very simple routine," Hall explained, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. "I wake up, I take a shower, I brush my teeth, wash my face, put my clothes on, come to the facility, and go about my workday. And I go home, I watch some film, I play some video games, and go to bed. So that's my week right there."
As of Thursday morning, ESPN BET had the winless Jets as 1.5-point underdogs for this coming Sunday's home game against the Carolina Panthers (3-3). In theory, that contest should give Gang Green opportunities to put Hall on display to would-be buyers.
