Even before the New York Jets started the season with six consecutive losses, it was anticipated that running back Breece Hall would finish the campaign with a different club.
For a piece published on Wednesday, ESPN's Dan Graziano addressed which running backs could be shipped to other teams ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
"The name that comes up most is the Jets' Breece Hall." Graziano explained. "He's 24 years old and in the final year of his contract, and the Jets have made no move to sign him long term. Braelon Allen is out because of a knee injury, which complicates things for the Jets from a 2025 depth-chart perspective. But Allen is only 21 years old and under contract for two more years after this one. They also like Isaiah Davis, who is 23 and also signed through 2027. So there are plenty of reasons Hall might not be in the Jets' long-range plans, and they could be open to a nice offer."
Hall has played only for the Jets since being drafted in 2022. While he recently clarified that he loves "being a New York Jet and everything," that was before he saw zero targets as a receiver in the team's 13-11 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Following that defeat, Hall shared a cryptic Instagram post that included the caption "#Free20."
Graziano mentioned that the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers are among the potential suitors that could call the Jets about Hall's availability. Interestingly, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler added in Graziano's article that "team execs have also pegged" the New England Patriots as a club that could look to add a running back ahead of the trade deadline.
Some may assume that the Jets wouldn't want to make a deal with a division foe, but that might not be the case if Gang Green believes the Patriots view Hall as nothing more than a short-term rental. It was only last week when the Cleveland Browns surprisingly traded veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals, a fellow AFC North team, after the Bengals found themselves needing a better fill-in for injured starter Joe Burrow.
In short, the rebuilding Jets may be willing to make a deal with the Patriots if New England submits the best offer for Hall.
