The winds of change have blown through 1 Jets drive this offseason as the Aaron Glenn era for the New York Jets gets underway.
With some fresh faces, including Justin Fields and former Detroit Lion Josh Reynolds, OTAs are of the utmost importance for developing chemistry, which will serve them well in the regular season.
Part of Tanner Engstrand's offense, Reynolds has history with his coordinator after time in Detroit, and now he is back working as he looks to reestablish himself in the league - and he's doing it with a new quarterback in Fields.
"He can throw it," Reynolds said with a smile. "He's got a beautiful ball. He's a smart quarterback, he's been picking up this offense pretty fast, and it's not easy. I'm excited to see how he continues to develop as the plays get a little easier, and it's going to be rolling."
Things appear to be getting off to a nice start between Fields and Reynolds, which is crucial, given the current makeup of the receiver room.
It is Garrett Wilson and then the rest.
Reynolds and Allen Lazard loom as the No. 2 and No. 3 weapons, although it is unknown who will land at which spot, with training camp offering the chance for either to stake their claim.
As for Fields, this may be his last chance to prove to the NFL world that he can be a starting quarterback. He has a clear runway, a star receiver, a good running back tandem, and an offensive line that's one of the better units in football.
And going by Reynold's words, he's off to a good start with his new team.
