Aaron Rodgers' tenure with the New York Jets came to a rocky end after the veteran quarterback only won five games as the starter in the 2024 NFL season.
Following a 2023 season that only lasted four snaps due to an Achilles tendon injury, the former Green Bay Packers star returned to MetLife Stadium with renewed expectations. Things didn't go in his favor, though, with the Jets going from Super Bowl hopeful to being a five-win squad.
Team owner Woody Johnson, who reportedly feuded with Rodgers, explained he wasn't behind the decision to let the veteran become a free agent.
“The experiment was a good experiment it just didn’t work out," Johnson said, via Zack Rosenblatt on X. "I have a lot of respect for Aaron Rodgers and I’m sorry it didn’t work out but we had to make a choice. And I think we made the right choice.”

In 18 games started with the Jets, Aaron Rodgers posted 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, as well as a passer rating of 90.4.
The Jets tried to accommodate everything to secure Rodgers' success, including the addition of Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator and Davante Adams as his primary weapon on offense.
They couldn't get the job and Hackett, Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas were dismissed mid-season while Rodgers and Adams left in the offseason.
A-Rod is now a free agent, heavily linked with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has yet to decide on his next team, while the Jets added Justin Fields to replace the four-time NFL MVP.
