Joe Burrow Makes Clear Statement About Future With Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals kick off their season on Sunday, hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Joe Burrow once again under center at quarterback.

Burrow is entering his seventh season with the Bengals and has had a rollercoaster of a career, to say the least.

The 29-year-old has dealt with a plethora of injuries throughout his time in the NFL, while his most recent injury limited him to just eight games last season. However, there’s no denying Burrow’s elite talent when healthy, best shown by his Super Bowl run in 2022, one of only two times he’s made the playoffs.

Even when healthy, Burrow has largely been let down by his defense, an issue that has plagued Cincinnati for several years. That was highlighted more than ever last season, with the Bengals ranking third-worst in scoring defense (28.9 points per game) and last in yards allowed per play (6.2).

With Burrow only getting older (he turns 30 in three months), there have been plenty of questions about whether he should stay in Cincinnati or eventually look elsewhere. However, Burrow made a clear statement to Bengals fans about his commitment to the team in a recent interview with Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

“I mean what I say. I’m here for the long haul. I’m not going anywhere,” Burrow said. “I’m just trying to bring a now-or-never mentality to the day-by-day process. If you’re not, what are you doing? Attack the day with a championship mindset. The rest will take care of itself.”
