Joe Flacco Makes Strong Statement After Shedeur Sanders' Request

With three months to go before the start of the 2025 NFL season, Joe Flacco is back with the Cleveland Browns, and he's getting in reps with them during their mandatory minicamp.

They brought the veteran quarterback out of mothballs late in the 2023 season when they badly needed help under center, and he responded by getting them to the playoffs despite injuries to multiple key players.

Now, he's looking to win an intriguing competition for the QB1 spot that includes polarizing incoming rookie Shedeur Sanders and former Pittsburgh Steeler Kenny Pickett.

While a couple of Flacco's teammates, including Sanders, have challenged him to break out some dance moves, Flacco steadfastly refused when asked about the request by a reporter while decrying the evolution of social media.

It seems like a long time ago, but Flacco was once the starting quarterback on an NFL team that claimed the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

That was during the 2012 season. As a member of the Baltimore Ravens, the team that drafted him in 2008, he led the team to a win in Super Bowl XLVII over the San Francisco 49ers, even though it was considered the underdog coming in.

He threw for 287 yards and three touchdowns while completing 22 of 33 pass attempts in that contest, which earned him the Super Bowl MVP award.

Flacco has never been named to the Pro Bowl, but he has long been considered a steady, solid and reliable signal-caller. He played in eight games with the Indianapolis Colts last year and completed 65.3% of his pass attempts while throwing for 1,761 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
