Joey Bosa Gets Unfortunate Injury Update With Buffalo Bills in OTAs

It was a real debate earlier this offseason whether the Los Angeles Chargers should have kept Joey Bosa or not.

He was entering the last year of a huge contract he signed back in 2020 that was riddled with injury guarantees.

The team’s other edge rusher, Khalil Mack, was also a free agent and the Chargers ultimately ended up keeping him instead of Bosa.

The star pass rusher was the longest tenured player on the team, but his injury concerns over the past few seasons made him more trouble than he was worth.

He ended up signing with the Buffalo Bills in the early stages of free agency and the injury bug has reared its ugly head again.

Head coach Sean McDermott announced that Bosa “pulled a calf” during OTAs and will be out for “the foreseeable future.”

While the esteemed coach didn’t seem overly concerned with the severity of injury, it’s a little troubling that the five-time Pro-Bowler is already on the shelf after his first practice with his new squad.

McDermott said that he expects to have Bosa back by the start of training camp in a couple months.

Playing outside of Los Angeles for the first time in his nine-year career, it will be difficult for the star edge rusher assimilate without being on the field and building camaraderie.

This certainly isn’t a victory lap that he got hurt, but this is the exact reason the Chargers didn’t see the value in paying Bosa.

He will likely get back on the field and produce at some point, but Buffalo will soon also be left just waiting for the next unfortunate play to happen where the former Defensive Rookie of the Year is forced off the field again.
