Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has strong words on women's sports in 2024
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are becoming one of the biggest sports franchises in the world. But that's what happens when you are a dynasty. It's putting a lot of global eyes on them, especially on guys like Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.

Since influential figures like Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have had the global eye on them, they have not only put the Chiefs in a positive light but also shone a beacon on something else: women's sports. Their involvement has not only brought glory to the Chiefs but also instilled a sense of pride and support in the hearts of their fans.

Since Mahomes has been in the league, he has been a huge advocate for women's sports. He and Brittany Mahomes, his wife, have even bought into the soccer team in Kansas City in the KC Current of the National Women's Soccer League.

Recently, Mahomes put an even bigger spotlight on women's sports.

"I'd like to raise a glass to a new era in sports. An era when the women's game is finally getting the attention it deserves," said Patrick Mahomes in his TIME100 Gala toast. "Tonight, I'd like to propose a toast. A toast to the rise of Women's Sports. The real reason you should toast women's sports is because they're incredible. Women's sports has it all, and I think people are starting to figure it out."

Mahomes is right, and if you have ever thoroughly watched the NWSL, the WNBA, or any other women's sports, you would know that those women are legit. You also probably know that the players are severely underpaid in many of these leagues, and Mahomes has also advocated for that.

The NFL has a player who is the face of the league and doing everything right. Hearing his passion about women's sports makes it even harder for people to dislike him.
