Kendrick Bourne injury delivers another blow to Cardinals offense

The Arizona Cardinals have suffered another significant setback on offense, with veteran wide receiver Kendrick Bourne reportedly set to miss the remainder of the 2026 season after fracturing his tibia.

The injury, reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, is expected to require approximately three months of recovery, ending Bourne's campaign after just eight games.

Bourne does not reportedly need surgery, but the recovery timeline means he will not return this season. He appeared in all eight games for Arizona, recording 26 receptions for 263 yards without a touchdown. He suffered the injury during Sunday's 33-30 overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys, leaving the game after catching a 29-yard pass.

The timing is particularly difficult for Arizona because its receiving depth has already taken a hit. The Cardinals lost Jalen Brooks for the season the previous week, while Michael Wilson has continued playing despite two broken ribs.

Bourne's absence leaves Wilson, Simi Fehoko, Devin Duvernay and Reggie Virgil among the available wide receivers on the active roster, increasing the pressure on the remaining group.

Cardinals suffer another setback after Marvin Harrison Jr. trade

Bourne's role had become more important following Arizona's trade of Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans.

Although his season totals were modest, the veteran provided experience and another option in a receiving corps that has been forced to adjust repeatedly. Losing him now further limits the Cardinals' flexibility as they prepare for the second half of the season.

Arizona did manage to beat Dallas despite the injury problems, rallying for a 33-30 overtime win. However, the victory came at a cost: running back Jeremiyah Love also left with a new ankle injury, while Bam Knight entered concussion protocol.

Head coach Mike LaFleur acknowledged the growing list of injuries as the Cardinals turned their attention toward their Week 9 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

For Arizona, Bourne's season-ending injury creates another challenge for an offense already dealing with a depleted supporting cast. The Cardinals will need their remaining receivers to take on larger roles while hoping to avoid further setbacks.

A dramatic comeback against Dallas provided a positive result, but maintaining offensive consistency will be more difficult without another experienced pass-catcher.
