King of Props: Lion should continue to roar

As Week 1 gets into full swing with a 14-game Sunday slate, optimism is high across nearly every fan base. The Lions likely have a few new supporters this year thanks to the latest installment of HBO’s Hard Knocks, but their best receiver began winning people over as a rookie last season. Banking on him to stay productive in a potential shootout with the Eagles is worthy of our top prop play:

The bet: Over 5½ receptions for Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (DraftKings)

For the last six games of the 2021 season, St. Brown was an absolute model of consistency. He always garnered double-digit targets (between 10 and 12) and made at least eight receptions. He also scored a touchdown in each game but one.

St. Brown plays with a chip on his shoulder, as he demonstrated on Hard Knocks by reeling off all of the receivers who were drafted ahead of him. Primarily operating out of the slot, he has developed great chemistry with quarterback Jared Goff. The two routinely connect on easy throws like hitches and slants.

The Eagles struggled against slot receivers last year and employ a lot of zone defense, which St. Brown excels at beating. Getting a half dozen catches may only take a half.
