King of Props: Overflowing cup of Joe

Through three weeks, the Dolphins stand as the only undefeated team in the AFC, posting a 3-0 record both straight up and against the spread. On Thursday night, they are in Cincinnati to take on the defending conference champions. The Bengals boast perhaps the best trio of wideouts in the league, and we expect the man who delivers them the ball to do the same for our prop play:

The bet: Over 268½ passing yards for Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (FanDuel)

After a ruptured appendix prevented him from playing in the preseason, Burrow is rounding into form. The biggest concern has been pass protection, as Cincinnati’s rebuilt offensive line often makes him run for his life. In addition to having endured 15 sacks, his 73 rushing yards are more than half of the total he amassed in either of his first two seasons.

However, that figures to be much less of an issue against the Dolphins. Under first-year head coach Mike McDaniel, they generate the least pressure in the league. Burrow should have sufficient time to sit in the pocket and find playmakers like Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd.

Over the first three weeks, the Miami pass defense has allowed 213 yards to the Patriots’ Mac Jones, 318 yards to the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson, and 400 yards to the Bills’ Josh Allen. If that progression holds, Burrow could threaten the career-best 525 yards he threw for in a game last year.

But just getting to 269 will suffice.
