Laura Rutledge has a new role in ESPN's NFL coverage this season.
ESPN announced Tuesday that Rutledge will work weekly as a sideline reporter on Monday Night Football. Rutledge joins the main team alongside a returning Lisa Salters and broadcasters Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.
Meanwhile, Katie George and Peter Schrager will serve as sideline reporters for additional MNF games called by Chris Fowler, Dan Orlovsky and Louis Riddick. Rather than celebrate her promotion, Rutledge congratulated her peers on social media.
"Congratulations to Lisa who continues to set the standard in our business," Rutledge wrote. "Class, talent and professionalism personified."
Rutledge added that she's "so excited" for Schrager and George.
Rutledge continues to climb the ESPN company ladder. The former FOX Sports reporter had worked The Worldwide Leader's NFL playoff games and reported on the sidelines for Monday Night Football's B-team. She was also a prominent member of ESPN's College Football Playoff coverage.
Along with this elevated gig, Rutledge will continue to host NFL Live and SEC Nation.
ESPN also revealed a contract extension for Salters, who enters her 14th season as an MNF sideline reporter. Meanwhile, George will make her NFL debut after previously focusing on college football and the NBA. Per ESPN's release, she'll maintain those responsibilities.
"Congratulations to both Lisa and @LauraRutledge!" George wrote. "I am thrilled to join
@PSchrags (on the sidelines), @cbfowler, @danorlovsky7 and @LRiddickESPN this season!"
Schrager received the prominent assignment months after leaving the NFL Network for ESPN. He's quickly assumed a significant presence at his new company, working the NFL Draft and guest-hosting Get Up.
Buck and Aikman will continue calling Monday Night Football games for the fourth season. The former celebrated ESPN's announcement.
"This is GREAT news," Buck wrote. "So happy for all involved!!!! Welcome to the crew. Couldn’t be more proud of what and WHO we have to cover the NFL on Monday nights!!"
