Aidan Hutchinson and the Detroit Lions face the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11 on "Sunday Night Football.". They look to stay hot after defeating the Washington Commanders 44-22 last week.
Despite beating the Commanders, Hutchinson had a quiet game, not recording any tackles, sacks, or tackles for loss. Even with the lack of production in that game, though, the defensive end continues to establish himself as one of the NFL's best defenders.
At 6-3, the Lions are looking to win the NFC North for the third straight year. Despite not missing any games this year, Hutchinson has been hurt with injuries in the past, breaking his fibula and tibia in 2024. That injury caused him to miss 12 games last season.
Unfortunately, he's dealing with a new injury. On Wednesday, the Lions announced their first Week 11 injury report. Hutchinson was a non-participant because of an elbow injury.
Through nine games this season, the one-time Pro Bowler has 18 tackles, seven sacks, seven tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, 17 quarterback hits, two pass deflections and 27 pressures.
"He’s everything we’re about," head coach Dan Campbell said after Hutchinson signed a four-year, $180 million extension. "He’s a productive player in all areas. He’s smart, he’s instinctive, he plays all out all the time, from snap to whistle. He’s us, man."
The Eagles' offense has been productive, ranking 12th in points per game (24.2). That adds pressure for Hutchinson to be available to slow them down.
The Lions have two more practices before taking on Philadelphia. Whether Hutchinson's elbow injury can progress in the right direction will be a key indicator of his ability to play.
The game is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field on NBC and Peacock.
