Lions Announce Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery Development During Ravens Game

Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery looked to guide the Detroit Lions to a second straight win on "Monday Night Football," hitting the road to face Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season. The running back duo is one of the best the NFL has to offer, earning the nickname "Sonic and Knuckles" during their three seasons together.

Heading into Monday’s matchup, Gibbs and Montgomery had played in 10 games together where both scored a rushing touchdown. In the first half against Baltimore, they each reached the end zone again, marking the 11th game in which both backs found the end zone on the ground.

In doing so, Gibb and Montgomery have set a new NFL record for the most games in which both members of a running back duo have rushed for touchdowns. This beats out some of the greatest duos the NFL has seen, including the Dolphins' Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, the Steelers' Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier and the Chargers' LaDainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles.

"This is the 11th game in which @Lions RBs Jahmyr Gibbs and @MontgomerDavid have both rushed for TDs," Detroit Lions PR wrote on X. "This establishes a new @NFL record for the most games in which each member of an RB duo have rushed for TDs."

Gibbs also joined elite “Monday Night Football” company, becoming just the seventh running back in NFL history to tally 500 or more scrimmage yards and at least five touchdowns in his first four "MNF" appearances. He joins the likes of Marshall Faulk, Emmitt Smith, Eric Dickerson and Earl Campbell.

Following the Ravens game, Gibbs, Montgomery and the Lions will return to Detroit for a Week 4 battle against the Cleveland Browns.
