The Detroit Lions got some good news on Tuesday when Terrion Arnold got a second opinion that will see him not only return this season, but potentially return in the month of October. Still, the Lions have decided they could use some cornerback depth, so they went out and signed a guy from Dan Campbell's past.
Lions are signing veteran slot CB Arthur Maulet to their practice squad, per source.

Lions have been looking for CB help after key injuries.
Maulet spent two seasons with the New Orleans Saints when Dan Campbell was the team's assistant head coach in 2017 and 2018. He's also spent time with the Colts, Jets, Steelers, Ravens, and, most recently, the Texans. Maulet has 23 career starts, but has played 85 games in his career. The majority of those starts came recently with the Jets and Steelers. His best season was in 2023 when he played 14 games for the Ravens and had five PBU's and an interception. In 2024, he missed most of the year with a knee injury and which hurt his chances to be a bigger part of things in Baltimore.
Where Maulet fits in with the Lions is that he is a very good run defender. Something Detroit loves with its corners. This also gives the team more flexibility in the slot corner area, where he can rotate with Avonte Maddox while Amik Robertson takes the outside corner spot until D.J. Reed and Arnold return.
