The Lions have one of the better rosters in the NFL, at least on paper. However, recently a major roster decision was questioned by the press, leading to a somewhat angry defense from GM Brad Holmes.

The cornerback position is quite concerning for Detroit. After all, they find themselves incredibly thin there. It all started with Terrion Arnold, who was released back in June 2026 after he was arrested on felony kidnapping and armed robbery charges.

Now, one would assume that losing such a key player would be a concerning issue to address. But, the Lions did no such thing. In fact, when asked about it Brad Holmes simply dismissed the question.

“I’ve answered multiple times. We like the guys we have in the room right now.”

At this point in time though, it’s hard to agree or disagree with the GM’s assessment. Whether or not the Lions made the right call will be revealed soon. After all, the results will be there on the field for all to see.

Former Lions star Greg Dortch shares reaction to unexpected release

The lack of cornerback recruitment is something that hasn’t pleased Lions fans. But, that is not the only front office decision that has stunned them.

Recently, despite a good pre-season performance, the Lions cut Greg Dortch. Dortch was a key part of the return game, and was even considered a potential WR3 option.

Fortunately, he didn’t have to wait long after being released. He was immediately picked by the Buffalo Bills and following his first training session, was asked about the release.

He revealed that he is no stranger to being cut, but admitted that he did not see this one coming. To be fair to him, neither did Lions fans.
