Lions HC anticipates good news about Jahmyr Gibbs' injury

Second-year running back Jahmyr Gibbs is expected to be a massive part of what the Detroit Lions do on offense in 2024. If the Lions make the Super Bowl this season — as they are one of the favorites to do so — Gibss will likely be a big reason why.

That's why everyone at Detroit's training camp practice likely held their breath on Monday when Gibbs left early due to what was called a hamstring injury.

"Immediately, two days ago, my phone [is] blowing up. I got all these people hitting me up about, 'Man, what happened to Gibbs?,'" head coach Dan Campbell told 97.1 The Ticket on Wednesday.

Hamstrings can be tricky, especially for players who use their legs in quick-twitch explosive ways like Gibbs. Fans of the Lions can most likely breathe a sigh of relief, though, because Campbell revealed on Wednesday that it seems Gibbs' prognosis is positive.

"I think we’re going to be fine here, alright?" Campbell said. "I think we’ll be good."

Gibbs is expected to take another step forward this season after rushing for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie.

He's a huge part of Detroit's one-two punch in the backfield alongside veteran David Montgomery, who rushed for 1,015 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.
