The Detroit Lions are about to square off with the Green Bay Packers at a rowdy Lambeau Field in Week 1. It's a game full of wild storylines with Micah Parsons suiting up for the Packers for the first time after being traded to the squad last week, while it'll be the first action star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson is seeing since Week 5 of the 2024 season.
Lots of NFC North bragging rights are on the line, as both teams are primed for excellent years. Detroit is defending their status as NFC North champs for two years in a row. But, they've still got the injury bug bothering them just a bit ahead of their 2025 regular season kickoff.
While Sione Vaki and Trevor Nowaske were already questionable headed into the game thanks to no shows at practice, rookie sensation Isaac TeSlaa had also missed practice due to injury, raising questions about his availability for a debut at Lambeau. But, TeSlaa is nowhere to be found on the injury report.
The Lions' inactives list, as shared by the Lions' team site, are as follows:
Wingo is a surprising scratch from this week's contest after head coach Dan Campbell had told reporters he was physically ready to go for this contest. Instead, he'll be watching from the sideline as rookie Tyleik Williams seems primed to get the start on the line in his place. While he may be physically ready, he might not be totally up to speed with a new playbook and the needs of new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard.
As for the Packers, they also released their inactives list for this game:
21 CB Nate Hobbs
39 S Zayne Anderson
67 OL Donovan Jennings
89 TE Ben Sims
91 DL Warren Brinson
99 DL Barryn Sorrell
Parsons, who has been dealing with a shoulder issue in training camp and through preseason, is clearly not missing this opener.
Hobbs is a significant scratch from this contest. The cornerback just signed a four year, $48 million dollar contract with several incentives attached, but the injury prone defender is quickly revealing just how carefully he has to be managed by the Packers this season. He's the second injury to monitor for Green Bay these last few weeks, as wide receiver Jayden Reed is also planning to play on a foot injury.
