The Detroit Lions were a popular team during the 2024 NFL season.
They were the league's most-watched team during the regular season as fans tuned in week after week to watch one of the most productive offenses in NFL history.
It turns out there were many fans who may have had a very different reason to tune in for Lions games throughout this past year.
According to an article from ESPN's Doug Greenberg, the Lions were the most bet on team during the 2024 NFL season.
Their status as the team drawing the most betting action is likely one reason so many football fans were watching them during the 2024 season.
It shouldn't come as a big surprise that the public loved having action on the Lions throughout this past season.
They entered the year with a ton of hype after nearly earning a spot in the Super Bowl the previous season and repeatedly delivered for bettors in 2024.
With eight wins by 10 or more points and a perfect record on the road, the Lions consistently covered spreads during their 15-2 season.
They ended the season with the league's second-best record against the spread at 12-5.
They unfortunately weren't quite as friendly to bettors during the playoffs. The Lions were sizable home favorites against the Washington Commanders in their only playoff game, but lost outright.
That likely won't dissuade bettors from continuing to put their faith in the Lions next season as they will once again have a roster loaded with talent and should be much healthier this time around.
We should expect to see plenty more fans sweating bets on the Lions during the 2025 season.
