As the 2025 Los Angeles Chargers‘ season has come to a close, after reflecting on the best defensive players of the team, here are the best offensive ones.
Vidal had a great 2025 with career highs in the regular season in rushing yards (643), rushing touchdowns (three), receiving yards (136), and receptions (16). Despite the drafting of running back Omarion Hampton in the first round this past year and acquiring running back Najee Harris in the offseason, Vidal actually came out on top among the running backs on the Chargers.
Some of that had to do with availability, as Hampton did suffer some ankle injuries, going out on injured reserve for several games, while Harris, unfortunately, suffered a torn ACL in Week 3, but Vidal also showed he had the juice to be productive.

He had multiple long rushes, in particular a 59-yarder (which was another career high) during Week 13 against the Raiders, where, with a nice block on the edge from offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer, Vidal ran out to the left and just kept running all the way into the end zone.
And with Hampton’s ankle still not 100%, Vidal was one of the more productive pieces of the Los Angeles Chargers’ offense during their Wild Card game, with a couple of receptions and first downs, along with 31 rushing yards.
Vidal is an exclusive rights free agent this year, so the Los Angeles Chargers will hopefully re-sign him, as he’ll serve as a nice insurance policy in the running back room.
Johnston seemed to finally hit his stride in his third year with the Los Angeles Chargers. He had a regular-season career high in receiving yards (735) and was a big part of the offense this past year.
He had a long 33-yard run along the sideline during the season opener against the Chiefs, in addition to two receiving touchdowns. He had a leaping catch during Week 3 against the Broncos. And in Week 16, while in tight coverage, he caught an absolute bomb from quarterback Justin Herbert for a 50-yard gain.
The clock starts ticking now regarding Johnston’s fifth-year option. And the 2025 season may have sealed the deal to keep him.
Gadsden was one of the highlights of training camp, and his offseason production luckily translated nicely into the season. Though he had fewer receiving yards and touchdowns than the usual suspects, when it comes to players like wide receiver Ladd McConkey or even wide receiver Keenan Allen, Gadsden wasn’t too far behind.
McConkey had 789 regular-season receiving yards while Gadsden had 664, and in terms of receptions, Allen had 81, Johnston had 51, McConkey 66, and Gadsden 49.

Gadsden’s game against the Texans wasn’t his best performance. He did have a touchdown in the matchup, but the ball also bounced off his hands in the red zone and was intercepted by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.
Gadsden also needs to improve his run blocking this coming season. But for a rookie, he was an integral part of the receiving corps and is on track to do even better this upcoming season.
Hampton didn’t get the season that many thought he would, as he was placed on injured reserve after the first few weeks due to a fracture in his left ankle. He then got another ankle injury (in his right) in Week 17. And he only played two snaps during the Wild Card game. But when Hampton was healthy, he lived up to the hype.
He had 545 regular-season rushing yards along with four rushing touchdowns. During the game against the Texans, Herbert was able to just toss the ball to him while under pressure, and Hampton took it up the sideline for 17 yards. And throughout the Cowboys game, Hampton was able to get a few nice runs as well as a rushing touchdown.
Even though he missed a few games, he had the third most rushing first downs, two behind Herbert, who was the leading rusher for the team. Hampton also had a receiving touchdown against the Eagles. Though Hampton wasn’t able to have a full rookie season, he was reliable, extending plays and finding those rushing lanes.
If he can get healthy this offseason, he should be in line for more triple rushing yard games and perhaps can get to double digits in rushing touchdowns.
The Wild Card game wasn’t Herbert’s best, and the conversation around whether he can handle the postseason and what needs to happen to make him successful does need to continue. And the interceptions were an issue with 13 in the regular season. But he did have 26 passing touchdowns, the most he’s had in a regular season since 2021.
And as mentioned, he ran a lot this past year. And in not being afraid to be mobile, he was able to avoid pressure and make plays happen even when it seemed like they shouldn’t. And it cannot be emphasized enough that he did play only a week removed from getting surgery on his non-throwing hand, and the Los Angeles Chargers managed a win against the defending Super Bowl Champs in overtime.
There’s a lot to unpack for Herbert this offseason, but fingers crossed, both left tackle Rashawn Slater and offensive tackle Joe Alt are back and healthy. And if the offensive line can stay healthy, and Herbert can stay healthy, the Los Angeles Chargers should be able to take another leap forward.
