Los Angeles Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz has drastically overhauled the receiving corps over the past few seasons. Chargers fans have had to say goodbye to some longtime contributors, such as Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, who recently retired from the NFL.
Yet, even when teams say goodbye, sometimes athletes just can’t quit their old team, and they end up coming back. We saw that with Williams, who returned to LA after one season away from the team.
Now, history could repeat itself with Allen, who remains unsigned in NFL free agency after spending last year with the Chicago Bears. Allen recently visited the Chargers, and afterward, head coach Jim Harbaugh discussed how it went.
While the Chargers didn’t sign Allen to a contract, Harbaugh admitted that he does have interest in adding the six-time Pro Bowl receiver to the roster.
“Dating back from when I first took the job, competitors welcome at the Los Angeles Chargers, and the interest has always been there with Keenan,” Harbaugh said.
Harbaugh admitted that the visit with Allen “went well.” Allen has received interest from a number of other teams, and a deal with the Chargers is still in play.
