How can the Los Angeles Rams improve upon last year’s 10-7 team that was eliminated in the Divisional Round Playoffs? General manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay have spent all offseason trying to do just that.
Throughout that process, we’ve seen the Rams add several players on both sides of the ball, including their top draft pick, tight end Terrance Ferguson, with the 46th overall pick. Ferguson is expected to overtake Tyler Higbee for the starting job eventually, yet now another potential superstar has become available.
Recently, word emerged of the Atlanta Falcons listening to trade offers for former No. 4 overall pick Kyle Pitts. There’s no guarantee the Falcons will trade the one-time Pro Bowl tight end, but if they do, would the Rams reach out? Maybe not, but Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox came up with an interesting trade proposal anyway.
“Trading for Pitts would give the Rams a dynamic pass-catching tight end to complement wideouts Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. Long-term, he could serve as a target for both Matthew Stafford and whichever quarterback the Rams pick to carry the baton after him. It’s also worth noting that Rams quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone was Atlanta’s offensive coordinator during Pitts’ 2021 Pro Bowl campaign.”
Bleacher Report on Kyle Pitts trade to Rams
Knox’s idea was for the Rams to trade the Falcons their 2026 first-round pick back in exchange for Pitts, plus a 2026 second and third-round selection from Atlanta.
While losing that future first-round pick wouldn’t be ideal, the overall trade package is pretty impressive. After all, they may not be able to find someone as talented as Pitts with that first-round selection, and Snead has done well adding contributors in the later rounds.
