Madden Cover Star Saquon Barkley and Bradley Cooper Share a Special Connection That Eagles Fans Will Love

It’s difficult for a casual fan to answer the common link between Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and their celebrity fan Bradley Cooper. One plays a contact sport for a living, and the other is famous for the Hangover franchise and reprising his role as Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

To the naked eye, they don’t seem to have anything in common except for their love of the Eagles’ green. In reality, they have one more similarity that most people will be aware of but never thought about putting them together in the same bracket until now.

The Big Apple is famous for its thin crusts, but Philly runs on the cheesesteak, and Barkley is no different.

Barkley may be a Bronx boy, but he received his college education at Penn State in Philadelphia. The 28-year-old rusher disclosed developing an addiction to the cheesy delicacy after moving to the city of brotherly love while making a batch inside a food truck on the streets of Philly.

Former Eagles defensive end Chris Long uploaded footage of Saquon Barkley expertly flipping steak patties on the griddle with a spatula while a horde of people with cameras observed his every move.

I definitely ate more cheesesteaks in the last seven years of my life [in Philadelphia].

How is Barkley’s love of cheesesteak connected to Bradley Cooper? The answer is simple: Cooper’s fondness for a good steak is famous. The American Sniper actor not only loves to chomp on a few, but he also loves cooking them.

After the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX, Cooper surprised the club’s staff and players by quickly hooking them up with a bunch of handmade cheesesteaks.

According to FOX29, Cooper partnered with Danny DiGiampietro of South Philly’s Angelo’s Pizzeria to open Danny and Coop’s restaurant in New York City.

Barkley should consider partnering with Cooper to open a chain restaurant, but it can wait. Fortunately for the Eagles organization, the former first-rounder has undivided attention on destroying NFL defenses.

He gave the NFL a flicker of his talent at the New York Giants, but opened the entire Pandora’s box after signing for the Eagles last summer. Head coach Nick Sirianni gave Barkley the baton, and he rushed 345 times for 2005 yards in the regular season and scored 13 touchdowns.

The NFL didn’t hesitate to hand Saquon the Offensive Player of the Year award. He gladly accepted it, but there’s one accolade every NFL player thinks about multiple times before giving in to temptation.

EA Sports favored Barkley as the cover athlete for the Madden 26 video game. He opted to trust Shaun Alexander and ignored the negative baggage to shoot the promotional for the cover.

He received a special message from San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, who was the cover artist last season.

Saquon… Congratulations man!!! Madden 26 for number 26. It’s my honor to be passing down the Madden cover to you. [We] keeping it within the running back family [and] we gotta keep it that way. So fired up for you, man. You have been pushing the standards since college and to see all your success is no shock to me, so congratulations, man, enjoy it and hope to see you soon.

Christian McCaffrey said

Later, Saquon posted a tweet thanking his fans for their support.

The Eagles decided to reward Barkley with a two-year, $41.2 million contract extension with the Eagles that includes $36 million guaranteed and up to $15 million more in incentives after the Super Bowl win.
