The New York Giants' defense has a challenging task ahead of them this Sunday against the Washington Commanders. They'll need to find a way to slow down their electric quarterback, Jayden Daniels.
When speaking to the media on Wednesday, Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers and former LSU teammate of Daniels delivered a bold prediction on whether rookie Abdul Carter will be able to track him down.
"Yeah, he can definitely keep up with Jayden [Daniels]. He's got some wheels on him. He ain't faster than me, and Jayden ain't faster than me, so I know he can keep up."
If there's anyone who knows the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year the best, it's his former college teammate Nabers. In their final year at LSU, the duo connected for 1,569 yards, 89 receptions, and 14 touchdowns. Their close relationship was a significant factor in their explosive 2023 season, which helped Daniels win the Heisman Trophy.
Because of their relationship, Nabers can provide a fair assessment of how fast Daniels is compared to the best defenders on the Giants roster. And he feels strongly that their most explosive pass rusher, Carter, can hunt down Nabers. He also believes Carter will prove why he was worthy of being drafted as high as he was this Sunday.

"I think he's going to show everybody why, you know, we picked him at that high. He's going to show off all of his athleticism. All his power moves and stuff like that. He's going to make some tackles and run down some people, so I’m excited to see it."
Daniels' success as a rookie was derived from his ability to improvise and extend plays. He's one of the fastest quarterbacks we've seen in NFL history. That made it impossible for opposing teams to sack him.
To put into context how elite an athlete Daniels is, last season, he led the league in rushing yards gained from scrambles with 600 per NFL Pro. He was also the only quarterback to have increased his team's win probability when holding the ball longer than four seconds.
It's safe to say that corraling Daniels will be crucial for the Giants to pull off the upset. That's where the rookie pass rusher Carter comes into play, who was deemed one of the rarest athletes in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Hopefully Nabers' projection is accurate, because if Carter truly is as fast as Daniels, he could potentially register his first career sack against the Commanders.
