Early on in the year, many were rushing to add MarShawn Lloyd in fantasy football following the news surrounding Josh Jacobs. Since being placed on the Commissioner Exempt List, Jacobs has yet to play for the Green Bay Packers.
The NFL announces Josh Jacobs goes to the Commissioner Exempt List. Jacobs can’t practice or play while on the list.

With so much uncertainty around Jacobs right now, the Packers RB1 is absolutely worth a roster spot at this point.
Now, early on there was optimism around Lloyd, but that’s since died down. The reason for that is Lloyd being unable to cross 10 points in any game this year. The volume also really hasn’t been there for Lloyd either, with only eight or more carries in Week 1 when he had 13.
Now, the efficiency has also been really bad. Lloyd is averaging 2.7 YPC on 30 carries, but keep in mind he only has 36 career carries. Lloyd was a strong prospect coming out of USC, getting drafted 88th overall, which is good draft capital for a running back.

+ Footwork, explosion, quickness, balance
Could play with more power, occasional tendency to bounce runs, but a fun player overall. Starting to return to that pre-ACL form. Probably a top 5 back for me in this class.#NFLDraft #SeniorBowl pic.twitter.com/OqiW3rfs6O
Pretty much everything I’ve outlined above is a reason not to add Lloyd, but that’s also created an opportunity where Lloyd is only rostered in 47.5% of ESPN leagues. Now, I’m not going out there and telling you to start Lloyd, but this is a stash for the end of your bench.
The reason for that is Lloyd had a season high in terms of points with 9.9 and also targets with 5 last week. Lloyd turned that into 5 catches for 36 yards. The Packers also don’t really have anywhere else to turn regarding these carries until Jacobs is back.
Despite the struggles from Lloyd, he was the clear leader in terms of snaps, with 33 compared to Kaleb Johnson’s 17, and his seven rushing attempts were still right there with Johnson, who had eight.
Despite the fact that Lloyd has really struggled running the ball, if he can just increase that number slightly while holding onto the role of the lead pass catcher, he will provide some very good fantasy football weeks. Going back to the draft capital, lack of NFL experience to date, and what we saw at USC, I think it’s very reasonable to expect things to improve as the year goes on.
