Mason Rudolph isn't planning on changing anything after 'having a feeling' the Steelers would sign quarterback Aaron Rodgers

Mason Rudolph is no Paul Skenes.

That being said, he threw out the first pitch at the Pirates game on Saturday, just hours after the announcement that Aaron Rodgers would be coming to Pittsburgh

But when asked about the arrival of the future Hall of Famer, it's status quo for Rudolph...

Mason Rudolph isn't changing his approach with Aaron Rodgers now in town

“I had a feeling they were going to bring somebody in," Rudolph said at the Pirates game on Saturday. "Obviously, Aaron was at the forefront of the conversation for a long time. It won’t change my approach. We’ve got one more week of practice coming up, our mandatory minicamp. It will be nice to get everybody in the building. I’ll keep doing what I’ve done my whole career. I’ve had plenty of adversity and found a way to battle through it. I stayed ready to play well when called upon.”

For Rudolph, this is a long time coming. Honestly, it's a case of Déjà vu given what happened the last time he was in the driver seat before Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett joined the team. And for the last two weeks, it was Rudolph who was listed as the quarterback number one.

That all changes on Tuesday when Aaron Rodgers takes his first snaps with the Steelers at mandatory minicamp.

“This business hardens you, and I have been through that before,” Rudolph told the Kaboly and Mack podcast regarding his role with the Steelers. “I thought I had a shot in 2022, then all of a sudden they brought in Mitch and Kenny. I’ve been through that before, and you have to keep working and stay the course."

The Steelers want to repeat no parts of the 2023 season other than the fact that they made the playoffs. But if you think back to that season, you will remember that it was Mason Rudolph, who, after being the emergency QB and inactive for the majority of the year, won the team three games in a row and sent them to the postseason.

That's probably why he's not sweating anything.
