The Philadelphia Eagles were the talk of the NFL last offseason when they poached running back Saquon Barkley from the New York Giants, their bitter rivals.

The Giants were mocked endlessly, but even more so when Barkley became just the ninth player in league history to rush for over 2,000 yards en route to a Super Bowl victory.

Now, the Eagles are set to defend the throne beginning Thursday when they take on the Dallas Cowboys at home in the first game of the NFL regular season. But before the enemies do battle on the field, a huge development is taking place with Barkley.

Barkley Documentary Announced

It was announced by Amazon Prime Video that the MVP finalist will get his own documentary, which details his injury recovery, public contract dispute with the Giants and path to winning the Super Bowl.

The film, which is set to premiere Oct. 9, was executively produced by legendary director Martin Scorsese.

This announcement comes at a great time for Barkley, who’s been under fire this offseason for some questionable political decisions off the field.

Although he has claimed the move wasn’t political, he was spotted playing a round of golf with President Donald Trump.

Then a few weeks later, the president announced that Barkley would be participating in a new version of the presidential fitness program, something the Eagles star vehemently denied.

He seems to have put all the controversy behind him and will now tell his authentic story to the world in the middle of the season.

Barkley has become a national phenomenon since his move to Philadelphia and looks to capitalize on his stardom with this documentary.
