Maxx Crosby shares opinion on pass rusher’s contract dispute

The Las Vegas Raiders are fortunate to get Maxx Crosby under contract.

Initially on the final year of a deal with no guaranteed money remaining, Crosby expressed his desire for a new contract. Fortunately, the Raiders were quick to give their superstar what he asked for, signing a three-year, $106.5 million contract in March. It was best-case scenario for both Crosby and the Raiders, preventing any drama from bleeding into the offseason.

Other teams in the NFL have not been so fortunate.

Crosby has commented on a contract negotiation gaining serious attention.

On the Glory Daze podcast, Crosby spoke about the ongoing contract dispute between the Cincinnati Bengals and edge rusher Trey Hendrickson.

“He’s going through that situation, I would never wanna be in that situation,” Crosby said. “So I’m grateful you know that I had guys that were like “no, like, we’re trying to get this done, let’s get it done. I know a lot of guys will miss the whole training camp and miss OTA’s and [all] that trying to get the deal right, but for me, it’s like if we can get it right before OTAs and I’m in a happy place and I can go out there and be with my guys, like, I don’t wanna miss a f***ing workout bro.”

While Hendrickson and the Bengals have re-entered negotiations, the edge rusher has still not participated in training camp yet.

Hendrickson has not really popped up on the Raiders’ radar, but the news on Thursday about Christian Wilkins’ release could change that. Hendrickson’s status as a defensive end does not mean he is a traditional replacement for the defensive tackle Wilkins, but he would form a lethal pass-rushing duo with Crosby. If the Bengals cannot reach a deal, there is an opportunity the Raiders could make a trade for cheaper than expected.

With a massive hole now punched into the defensive line, the Raiders should be willing to keep tabs on this developing situation.
