Dallas Cowboys pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons is on a Hall of Fame trajectory as a defensive game-wrecker, but he has always shown a desire to do more on the field.
This goes back to training camp, during which coaches have had to pull Micah out of practice at times because he wrecked the offensive game plan, which is no surprise to us.
Having played running back in high school, Parsons has even gotten some reps at the position in training camp practice, with former head coach Mike McCarthy confidently stating Micah could run the ball in the NFL.
But that is good in theory, but could Parsons actually do it?
His brother, Terrence, who spoke with our own Mike Fisher, thinks Micah could do it if he properly trained for it.
“You got to train for it, yeah,” Terrence said. “If you give him the offseason, yeah, just at the drop of the hat? No, I won't do that, but you give him a chance to prepare and really train for it, yeah.”
Dallas' running back problems solved?
It is sure fun to think about what Micah could bring to the offense as a running back, and yes, we know it is just fantasy, but that doesn't mean we can't think about Dak Prescott handing it off to No. 11.
Granted, his value to the franchise is way too high on the defensive side to let Micah moonlight as a running back, but every once in a while in practice? Why not?
Fish makes the point - and Terrence agrees - that when we see Micah taking a practice pitch-out from Dak Prescott or returning a punt during special-teams work, it's mostly about Parsons being "hyperactive.''
Said Fish: "I think he gets bored when he's not doing something. So he stays busy - like 'Football ADD.''
Parsons has shown what kind of athlete he is in his first four years in the NFL as a dominant pass-rusher, but maybe a career as a two-way player might be in his future.
We doubt it, but it's Micah we're talking about.
